Annette du Plessis

I am a registered Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. I live and work in Somerset West, a town situated in the beautiful Cape Winelands. My career as a psychologist started in schools for children with special educational needs. After working in various schools in the Western Cape, I opened a private practice in Somerset West where the focus is on psycho-educational assessments and therapeutic work with children, teenagers, young adults and families.

I specialize in Psycho-Educational Assessments and have an interest in the diagnoses of specific learning difficulties, as well as school readiness assessments, career and subject choice assessments, scholastic assessments and assessments for concessions and accommodations. I work in partnership with schools, parents and other professionals like Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Learning Support Teachers to ensure that the best support is offered to the child. This includes individuals experiencing educational, behavioural, social or emotional difficulties. I also offer guidance to families and teachers. These services are provided in Afrikaans and English
